I have been artistic since I was big enough to hold a crayon. That may sound cliche, but my mom confirms that she had a hard time keeping me adequately supplied with art materials. I HAD to always be making something. Around age 13, I took oil painting classes from two well accredited local instructors. Most of the other students were retired women and then there was me, a petite, quiet 13 year old who was always the last to leave class.
After graduating from high school, I spent one semester as an Art major, plan A, before changing to education, plan B. (My left brain made me do it.) I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education, Math. I taught high school math for one semester before quickly looking for a Plan C. I've been working in Product Development Engineering for 21 years. I am now ready to circle back to Plan A.
I never stopped being creative throughout the years. I practiced face painting and spent many hours crocheting. I enjoyed personal painting projects as well as volunteer projects for school activities such as props for school plays, the marching band and color guard, but I always wondered if I could still paint.
āI rekindled my love for painting when I came across The Art Sherpa YouTube Channel. I eagerly watched the tutorials by Cinnamon Cooney learning for the first time the ins and outs of painting with acrylics. I picked up my brushes and paints in 2017 and haven't put them down since.
āI love painting animals and telling stories about where I'm from with my art. āI began teaching classes in the spring of 2018 to help guide others in experiencing the joy of painting.
āāāI was born and raised and still live in Orleans Indiana with my husband Matt of 22 years. We have two sons Harrison and Pete. We enjoy our quiet life in the country on our little farm with our pygmy goats, donkey, potbelly pig and dogs.
